springen Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 My reversing lights have stopped working. I've checked the bulbs and fuse and they are OK. Tailgate wiring looks OK, but I'll need to check it further. The gearbox switch does not look very easy to get at. Has anybody else experienced this problem, before I dig deeper ?? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Try holding the gear stick in reverse and use a bit of force! then see if the lights operate? most common cause of reverseing lights failure is as you say the wireing failing in the rubber boot or the reverseing switch wearing! the switch is operated by a pin that pushes onto a plastic plate section in the switch, after a while the pin wears a slot in the plate and cant operate the switch :( it's an easy job to replace! well it is if you've done a few times  and it should be even easier for you? what with you haveing a couple of cylinders missing and easier access to the switch :P Quote
