SimonH Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Drivers side electric window packed up last night on my 2.3 99 galaxy. Window went down and now refuses to come back up. Took off the door panel and had a quick look and it appears that the motor cable has somehow jammed at some point and has dislodged itself whereby its not feeding through the motor properly. The motor sounds fine as it is trying to get the window back up, just the cable is in a mess so wont allow it do do so. All other parts, wiring etc seem ok. My question is, can the cable be replaced soley? or is it a complete part ie motor cable regulator ? Phoned up ford, dont have it in stock ( what a surprise ) They quoted me Quote
greg_68 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Hi, mine jammed so I got one of the old type coat hangers (all steel) and hooked the cable. Operate the motor up and down and you may find it will feed out enough for you to get it back over the white plastic wheel at the top of the door. There is a little tag covering the top of the wheel that you may have to bend back to get the cable back on to the wheel. Look down the window slot and you can see it, I think it is easier to see if you remove the outer glass seal as well, they only push on. HTH. Quote
Guest Crewdy Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Hi SimonH My regulator went exactly 3 days after taking delivery of a brand new Gal. They didn't replace the motor which I would imagine would be the expensive part. However if they carry out a temporary repair by putting a block in the door whilst they wait delivery watch out as it left a raised dent ? Well a raised bit where the block had been on the panel. All repaired now, but Ford dealers are crap! Quote
