Remote Key Programme

Hi

 

I read a post somewhere a few days ago where someone was giving step-by-step instructions on how to re-programme your remote key to the Galaxy.

 

I have not been able to find that post for love nor money!

 

Can anyone guide me please :(

"2001 2.3 Ghia Galaxy imported from Singapore.

Bought car with only one non remote door key. Bought 2 new remote keys from Fords as they said they'd be able to tune them in to the car. Fords however, after an hour couldn't get the remote central locking to work. Keys open and start car manually but not via remote.

Apparently to set up new keys the key goes in drivers door and you turn it forwards 3 times and the little red light on the top of the door should stay on, then you press both buttons on the key and the remote is set. I can't get the red light to stay on. Is there any difference in the frequencies of the remotes for other countries. Any ideas appreciated"

All doors must be closed. You need to turn and hold the key for half a second and repeat up to 5 times until the light stays on. You then press and hold the lock button, then also press and hold unlock and then release both buttons simultaneously.

 

This must be carried out within 15 seconds.

 

The proceedure must be repeated with the rest of the remotes before the red light resets.

The correct way taken from the owners handbook Put key in drivers door turn to unlock 3 times holding the key in the unlock position for 1/2 second on each turn, then take key out of lock, point it towards the rear veiw mirrior and press and hold down the unlock button while pressing the lock button 3 times, the little led on the door will flash if successfull if it does not flash it was unsuccessfull all remote keys must be programmed within 15 seconds of each other hope this helps

Yes, just tried this and this is what works, not what I said above (which I got from the TIS)

 

Your key will flash 5 times if it programs OK as does the door LED before coming back on constantly so you can program the next remote fob.

It's all a bit "James Bond-ified" to me :P no wonder anyone without a manual has troubles!

It only works if you hold the key in your left hand and press the buttons with your right whilst standing on your left leg with the right one draped over the wing mirror.....
