Guest SA Intruder Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Low Power on VW diesel engine can be caused by blocked Cat, or non-functioning Turbo. Or... MAF sensor can be damaged by some contamination, or just age/abuse. It is generally believed that some after-market air filters contain resins and/or oils that become airborne with air flow. Use genuine? MAF sensor can be cleaned - it's worth a try. Remove and use non-aggressive cleaner (try brake cleaner - not carb cleaner or contact cleaner). It's the thin silvery plastic film you're after. If vehicle power improves when the MAF is disconnected, then it is probably faulty. The ECU detects that the sensor is disconnected and uses default fallback values in substitution. Quote
