Not yet at my wits end, but I can see it from here.

1997 2.8 ghia 4 x 4.

I've had to change out the ECU - (heater matrix, she go bye-bye) but suspect it may be the wrong part. Old ECU in situ was missing the label and now with the new one there's a ticking noise when it is powered up and ticking twice as loud when the ignition is turned on. It sounds like a relay? inside the unit is continuously firing off.

I can live without the unit for the time being but the biggest deal is that the rear passenger doors have deadlocked closed. Obviously it's impossible to access the inner door to disable the solenoids so can anyone help with info on possibly shorting through the ECU plugs to power up the central locking and get the doors open?

Nice project for me on a rainy Sunday here in Aberdeen.

Cheers in advance.

Smeg.

ECU, I take it you mean the central locking ECU under the passenger seat and not the Engine Control Unit as you put it? have you tried drying the old out and cleaning the PCB? this has helped a few people! also on ebay there is a gentleman selling a way to fix this problem by adding a couple of relays and tapping into the wireing outide the ECU

Thanks much, yes I do mean the unit under the passenger seat.

I've already got the gen off the guy on ebay you mention and this looks like it might be a possible option, I was looking for an easier option just to get the doors opened.

Looks like I'm off to Maplin.

Thanks again.
