1 STOP SHOUTING WE CAN HEAR YOU B)

2 The vacuum pump is either behind the passenger side indicator (Mk1) or (Mk2)behind the grill, infront of the rad, again on the passenger side

The easiest way on the 2000-2005 model is to take out the near side headlamp (passenger). Look up between the inner and outer wing above the wheel arch cover and you will see it. The rubber pipe is at the front and if it has split you can probably cut off the end and push it back on; job done if you're lucky. Took literally 15 min max.

Hi all,

I too have a problem with my cruise control on a 2.3 Galaxy. It's not been working for a few months now and I thought I should look into it. Anyway, seen your discussions and cannot fathom what a pipe has to do with this ?

Could someone elaborate on what the pipe does please. I thought there might be a fuse gone but there appears to be no fuse controlling Cruise Control.

The system works by creating a vacuum, if the pipe is split it will no longer do this so it wont work.

If you remove n/s headlight and look between the outer and inner wing you will see the speed control pump.

Normally its just the black pipe which has split, depending on the state of it you can just cut the end off and reattach it otherwise you will need a new piece of pipe. If not you may need new pump like me.

Above is a picture of the pump in situe, as you can see the pipe attaches to the black connector not the white one. My new pump has an extra pipe on to the one shown here dont know when that changed. If i were you i would remove the pump and check there is no water in there, it may help prevent corrosion which was the problem with mine.

If you do need a new pump its

Hi Alex,

that was a mighty quick response. I shall take a look at it and see what I find.
