marinabrid Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 hi allon the mk 1 model is everyones upper grill where the badge is see through like ours or have some models got a grill mesh behind, i ask cos we had a big lump of steel jump up and go straight thru the air con rad thus costing Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Mine has a plastic honey combe grill behind the chrome badge holder, IO could be wrong but I think it depends on the vehicle spec, Aspen, Glx or Ghia on what is fitted behind the badge? Aspen has a colour coded or black badge holder and no grill behind it, Glx has a chrome badge holder and a grill as does the Ghia, this only my deduction from looking at the pictures in the brouchures! so dont go snapping my head off if some of you have a different set up  try the parts dept at you local dealers and see if one is available as a spare part? Guest daddycool Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 The plastic grill part which sits behind the ford badge to protect the rad does not come as a separate part, i enquired about this about six months ago at ford. You have to replace the whole front upper grill which if i remember corectly was about Quote
soptom Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Was thinking of doing this same mod today! If you have the time and inclination, could you post a picture of the back of your grill so I can see how you attached the mesh? Like the original poster said, it's easy to end up with a bodge. Thanks.Incidentally, we had two new drop links fitted yesterday and it's like driving a new car, no clunking noises, squeaks, or wallowing handling (within the galaxy's limits of wallowing handling), one of those jobs that I kept putting off but wished I'd done sooner. Guest vr6galaxy Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 or wallowing handling (within the galaxy's limits of wallowing handling), Wallowing ? what wallowing? ;) oh the joys of adjustable coil over suspension :D hardly any wallowing ;) just no fillings left as they get rattled loose  Quote
marinabrid Posted August 18, 2005 Author Report Posted August 18, 2005 have you a pic of rear or how is it attached, with filler ir what ? thanks Quote
Guest daddycool Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 I used a thick bead of silicone to attach to mesh to the grill. I took me about half an hour to mould the mesh to the right shape and then get a decent fix. It was the only adhesive i had around at the time however, the mesh is taught and does'nt flop about. Its raining at the moment and i get wet for no one so i'll take a pic of it tommorow. CheersMark Quote
