Guest lewisn1 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Hi all, My Galaxy has been to the dealers twice already now, I have had the parking sensors fixed, a speaker and a vent. But I still have loads of problems :) 1. Power loss when i get to 2500 - 3000 rpm2. Low mpg. I get 35mpg at best.3. Exterior light warning, but all lights work!!! warning light goes off after pressing the break.4. Climate control, does not go very cold (or hot), seems very weak, does not blow much even when on Low. Has been regassed last week too. I have asked the dealer to replace the MAF but they didn't so I will ask again when it goes back in a few days. (They replaced a valve!!!)He also said they have no idea why the CC flashes when the car is turned on :) Is the Power loss and low mpg connected??? any ideas what I should do!!! Could someone help answer those 4 questions and I will print it off and give it to the dealer. Thanks, Quote
johnb80 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 1 and 2 are probably related - turbo/maf/intercooler3 Is not a fault this is how it works. It can't check the brake lights until you put your foot on the pedal, it goes out if both brake lights are ok.4 CC Should NOT flash, this indicates a fault such as low gas or other (readable) fault codes. If you have just bought the car, send a recorded delivery letter stating that you are 'Rejecting this vehicle' and state the faults, give them 7 days to fix them. Regards - JB Quote
Guest lewisn1 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Do you think it would be worth taking it to an air con specialist to have it diagnosed first? Quote
jkspoff Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 As johnb80 mentioned, the 'bulb check' light is operating correctly. The fuel economy around town is only between 35 and 39 I find, take it on along run and you'll get upto 50mpg driving normally. I take it you got the garage's 3 month warranty with it, or is it through a 3rd party warranty company, if so then take it to a different garage, but make warranty company aware first. I find that this has worked for me in the past, as I have warranty with 'warranty direct', if one garage can't fix it properly, then try another. :) Quote
Guest lewisn1 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 It has a 6 month warranty but my problem is for the 1st month the dealer said take it to them to be fixed, I have twice and they have not foxed the turbo or aircon, so I don't have much confidence they will fix it for a 3rd time (Next Monday). So I was wondering if I should go to an air con specialist to find out the problem, then stonly hint to the dealer what the problem is and ask them to fix it!!! Does this sound good? Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 I think you should stick with the dealer, make 'em give you a courtesy car and tell 'em you WON'T accept the car back until ALL the problems are solved to your satisfaction. That should get their arses in gear! Often dealers who are stumped do outsource for a solution when they're forced to. FORCE THEM TO FIX IT! :) Quote
Guest lewisn1 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 After a fair bit of naggin the bloke just phoned me now, he has booked it into Fords next week. Hopefully they will be able to fix it. (after reading about air con problems, i'm still not convinced they will!!) Quote
dave_m Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Please post again once you find out what was causing the problems as it may be of help to others :) Quote
Guest lewisn1 Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Right, the car went to fords yesterday, they say the Climate Control is totally not working, either a wire problem or the compressor!!! The turbo had no errors reported from their computer!! I insisted that the turbo was not right and the service manager agreed it might be a MAF sensor issue. So I went back to the dealer and said I wanted those 2 problems fixed. He said no probs, book it into a ford dealer I want and tell them to send them the bill. Have done that and its going in next wednesday to be fixed. The service bloke in fords said the air con might take a few days  I just hope it's all sorted soon, 4 weeks of messing around has done my head in :P oh, and the dealer said sorry for the problems and offered me an extended RAC 3star 12 month warrenty for 1/2 price Quote
johnb80 Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 I think my reply would be, stuff that, all these problems I'll reject the vehicle thankyou OR make me a better offer, in view of the problems give me the warranty free. Regards - JB Quote
Guest lewisn1 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Right, Yesterday I had the MAF sensor finally changed, took 4 weeks of nagging the dealer. Fords changed it and it runs better than ever now :) it seems like I'm driving a different car. The air - they replaced a valve!!! they did something with a sealer!!!! and regassed it. It seems ok now but I will keep an eye on it. Parking sensors also fixed. I'm happy for the moment B) Thanks for everyones advice. Quote
