my tempguage works when it wants and the fuel guage has a mind of its own too

ive looked for the fuel guage sender unit and cannot seem to find it..is it on top of the tank which would mean removing the tank to get at it?..ive had a look round the engine bay and noticed that when i remove the electrical plug from the sender in the thermostat housing the fans speed up and when i refit the plug the fans slow down..is this right.?..also while lookin round i noticed this other sender unit screwed into the radiator(its on the right hand side just under the power steering filler)..this sender unit dont have any wires connected to it although there are electrical connections on the sender itself..just thought i'd like to mention that the radiator seems loose but the rubber securing plugs on the top of it seem intact..any ideas guys????

You can get to the fuel tank sender without dropping the tank by lifting the carpet behind the drivers seat, there is an inspection hatch in the floor! you will have to remove the rear seats and the trim plates around the seat mountings, the door sill trim, possibly the rear floor vent trim from around the back of the hand brake and possibly the under seat cubby hole lid trim? then peel back the carpet and the sound proofing, and there should be a round inspection hatch? remove the screws and lift the lid! and there's the fuel tank B) have fun :)
