Guest connor Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Wipers ground to a halt on the way to work today, I got the mechanism out and eventually managed to get the drivers side spindle out and greased. The question I have is how do I seperate the nearside/passenger spindle from the wiper mechanism. Someone suggested removing the balljoint, but it isn't obvious to me how this is done - the balljoint is flush with the mechanism arm. Do I just force the balljoint apart at the bottom of the mechanism and hammer it back together to reassemble? Quote
GSMGuy Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Take the whole mechanism out, including the motor - it's only held on by three bols after you remove the undertray (three bolts again) Then you can easily strip and grease it - A warning though - make sure you support the mounting luggs, as they are prone to snapping! Guest connor Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 GSMGuy,I got the mechanism out ok and got the drivers spindle out after about 2 hours! It was obvious that i could just unscrew the base of the drivers spindle from the mechanism but it isn't obvious to me how I detach the passenger side spindle from the mechanism. The base of the spindle holds the base of the balljoint, but I can't see how you detach this spindle. Quote
