P2k Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I noticed today the temp gauge was in the red, then after checking things I found the fans are not working... Car still makes the click noise just before the fans should kick in... When the engine is at tick over, it stalls when the fans should start.....any ideas? Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 TRY RUNNING A STRAIGHT CONNECTION FROM THE FANS TO YOUR BATTERY.IF THE FANS DON'T WORK THEN CHANGE THEM. Quote
Sharanfx Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 If it stalls as they kick in, it sounds like there is a short somewhere between the wiring from the fan switch on the rad to the main fans. Check your wiring in that area for chaffing. Like stevebm1 said also check the fans them selfs by hard wiring them to check they run. Quote
P2k Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 just tryed power straight to the fans.. B) both fans don't work.. i all so checked if there was power getting to the fans and there was...... looks like i'll going to have to part with some money............ thx 4 the help Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 I would go to the scrapyard before buying brand new.I dare say a lot of ford fans are universal,so you may not need to hunt for a galaxy in particular to obtain the parts Quote
Rob C Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 If your handy with a soldering iron you may be able to fix them. Remove the back cover plate of the motor. You should see two copper coloured coils. If anything like mine the join at one of the coils was broke. Solder this back in place and it should work. Saves Quote
