Guest j_mchattie Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Another problem.......this time my brothers Mondeo. Im getting a click on breaking. Only one each time the pedal is pressed. Ive had the car checked out - seems fine and safe, but annoying. It gets more predictable (and louder) when warm, and the click comes from the brake caliper area - near side. All of the ball joints are new, and calipers etc are tight. Discs are newish too. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Loose caliper bolt. They have to come off to do the disks, were new bolts and threadlock used when they went back on? Quote
Guest j_mchattie Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 They are tight - i have checked. It goes clonk every time the brake is used - not just once. Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 If it goes chonk every time you apply the brake try holding the steering wheel lightly and see if the steering goes "chonk" left and right as the brakes are applied and released. If it does its the lower front rear wishbone arm bushes worn. It doesnt fail the MOT and can harldy be noticed in its early stages but after a period of time it scruffs the outer edges off tyres in about 500 miles. Quote
Guest Andy Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 the pads are moving in the caliper carrier... up n down:lol:    Quote
