Hi all

can any one please tell where and how to locate any ralays associated with the rear wipers (when on intermittent), also is there a relay associated with the starter motor!! occasionally when I try to start the galaxy, its completly dead!! then all of a sudden it starts...

Ok,It looks as if the relay for the rear wipers is integral with the motor assembly (I,ve checked my TIS CD). If the relay is donald ducked, then it looks as if the whole assembly will have to be changed....unless anyone else out there can shed some light on the matter. I guess a motor will be expensive!! The starter motor circuit passes through a crypto transponder in the circuit diagram, K191 is the ident. Its plugged into the Central Junction Box which is behind the fuse panel, under the flap below and to the right of the steering wheel. It also looks as if there is a solenoid within the motor assembly, the ford circuit diagrams are really easy to decipher...NOT! Hope this helps :D If the motor is dead one minute then fine the next, it could be that the solenoid is sticky. Nexy time it refuses to start, have someone hold the key in the cranking position and you VERY CAREFULLY tap the motor. If it fires into life then the solenoid is playing up. I used to have a Ford Crapi, sorry Capri and I never went anywhere without my starting assistant (Big rubber mallet) to give the solenoid a whack so I could start it!!!

Thanks ajaycad,

I think I can live with the intermittent rear wiper (when on rear wiper wash they swip continously!! so at least they work) Also, what is a "crypto transponder "!! and can it be replaced to rectify the fault. PS I also had a capri, a lot better fun to drive than the galaxy and more reliable! but was 18 and not 39 with 4 young kids!!!!!!
