Hi,

I now prefer the look of the Sharan from the front and wondered if it was just a case of changing the grille over to my Mk1 Galaxy or would I need to replace the headlights as well ?? ;)

Anyone know?

Cheers

Headlamps, bonnet, bumper, ?wings?

End up badged as a VW at the front and Ford at the rear?

Perhaps a unique selling proposition when you come to sell - or an absolute dog!

When there was BMC and they produced Austin and Morris 1100's, it's said that they would occasionally make and deliver cars that were Austin at the front and Morris at the rear (or vice versa!)

I wonder if they've ever made a genuine Galambran (some hideous combination of all three types) at the factory in Portugal>

....the bonnet, wings, headlights on a MK1 are all the same on the Galaxy Alhambra and sharan as are the bumpers...a grille swap is possible but you wont be able to cover up the hole where the VW badge is removed with your oval Ford badge !!!!

Fair comments,

Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement grille for the MK1 Galaxy, I can find Sharan grilles online but not Galaxy

Cheers

You would have to get it sprayed the correct colour to match you car so why not get them to fill the badge hole while they do it? then you could fit a badgeless VW grill

Sorry, but Mark 1 bonnets are NOT the same. I had a good look yesterday in a car-park. The Ford ones have curves cut into both front corners to accommodate the curved headlamps wheras the VW and SEAT have straight front edges.

 done it with alhambra bits as the middle of the grill is removalable so changed bonnet and grill but used a twin head light conversion with stainless insert in grill  im happy and it is a better looking car for it

I had a Mini that was a true British Leyland vehicle.

Started life as a 1961 Austin Mini.

Engine was replaced with one from a Morris Mini.

Brakes from a Wolsey Hornet

Interior lights from a Mk11 Jag

Instruments from a Triumph 2000

Windscreen washer pump from a Rover 2000

My Galaxy is all Ford.

My Galaxy is all Ford.

It's all VW, actually (or All Auto-Europa, to be absolutely accurate).
