Mass Air Flow

hi all i drive a 98 glx diesel when driven hard for 30/40 miles at around 70 mph all of a sudden engine will die off and not rev over 3000revs any incline slows it down as for overtaking forgget it if i pull over turn off for 2mins restart every thing back to normal it may do it again or could be ok rest of the run am i right to suspect mass air flow senser

My MAF sensor needed replacing and the effect was permanent,

ie difficult to rev over 3000rpm. I don't know if they fail totally or gradually die, perhaps yours might be the latter.

Someone here will tell you what the problem is though.
