hi there have asked a similar question about brake light switch, but would the throttle switch cause similar problems, i e complete loss of power and engine management light flashing, switch off then restart all works fine, the reason that i ask this question is as i was driving up a very steep hill, dropped down a gear and as soon as i put the accelerator pedal to the floor all power went, lucky there was just enough to creep into a side turning, bloke behind me was not amused though, also have noticed sometimes when towing up hills etc, that when i put the pedal to the floor it feels like someone tugs the back of the car and then lets go, i am off to devon next month so any pointers will be appreciated,

thanks in advance

The TDi's are drive by wire and it is known to cause problems like you are experiencing.

Try not to "floor" the accelerator pedal. Could be a duff (worn) throttle potentiometer ?

Hi

This may help. About a year ago my engine warning lamp started flashing and I suffered loss of power etc. I found the cause of the lamp flashing to be a faulty brake switch on the pedal so I sprayed with WD40 and brake lights worked again and the flashing light went out but I still suffered the loss of power.

I then changed the switch all together (costs about

just in case your switchy thing dosn't work, i suffered all of the symptoms that you have described previously, the only difference being i was passing a wagon on a hill with a caravan in tow, ford eventually diagnosed the throttle position sensor, (throttle pedal to you and me) this did solve the problem completely, the only thing to note if you did it yourself is you have to get someone with a diagnostic computer to reset the ECU otherwise the faults remains stored in the memory still causing the original symptoms.

good luck
