GaryM Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Have a 1.9TDI with a 6 speed manual box and I would like to change the oil. Got the car up on the ramps and can see the sump plug for the box but cannot find where to fill it? Where is the fill point? Pictures or text greatly appriciated. What is the fill proceedure?Any hints or tips? I belive it takes 2.5L to fill and I now have 3 bottles of fords special oil waiting for a home. Thanks in advance. seatkid Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Double check that oil! 6 speed boxes are made by VW and use (AFAIK) conventional gearbox oil (spec N052171VX00 ). The 5 speed box is made by Ford and uses a very special Ford spec oil (spec WSD-M2C200-C)....... Quote
GaryM Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 Double check that oil! 6 speed boxes are made by VW and use (AFAIK) conventional gearbox oil (spec N052171VX00 ). 6 speedbox and just the oil you mention' just feel stupid that I can't figure where to fill it. The Ford TIS is no help but must admitt that I have not removed anything yet. Guess the battery tray would be the best thing to rip out first? Quote
seatkid Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Fill the transaxle with manual transmission fluid until the oil level is just below the bottom of the filler hole. Quote
GaryM Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 A star! Saw that plug as well as the one at the rear on the underside. It was just that I was expecting it to be on top somewhere. So drain out from the bottom and then devise a method of filling in to the side. Sounds like a job for a hose and freddy the funnel. Quote
GaryM Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 Looks like a picture from TIS, how did you find it Quote
