CasaPaulo Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Just had the MOT, ticket was dated as of today. But, it ain't officially due to it's third birthday on the 18th. With a 4 yr old onwards it can be tested upto a month in advance, does anyone know if this rule can apply to the 'first' test. Basically, have they robbed me of ten days? I get miffed too when I shove the thing into a dealer for a 10k service a bit before, then book is stamped a and the next service due 500 odd miles earlier, I'll be having a 70K @ 60K speedo reading. No doubt I'd lose any official warranty cover if I am overdue though. What is the mileage leeway? if any. Quote
HJT Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 The service is due 10,000 miles after you put it in for a service. So if you put the car in at 9500 miles the next service will be due at 19,500. My Gal (for some reason, don't know why, it was before I got the car and it's not on variable servicing) had a 20'000 mile service at 15,900, which mean't the 30,000 was due at 25,900. I decided to get it back on schedule and had another 20,000 mile service done at 20,000. I believe the mileage leeway on the warranty is 600 miles over the due time for the service but don't hold me to that. Howard Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 You've been robbed on 10 days but it may be your fault. If you took the V5 registration document to the garage that did the MOT and left it with them, asking for the MoT to be dated from date of first registration then they can do it. I know it can be done, I did this with my previous car and I hope to do it again with the Gal next January.... Quote
LOZ Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 You are moaning about 10 days!!!!!!!!!! When I had my last car so be it a Skoda, it was nearly 3 years old, but because I got it from the dealer they MOT'd it for me so instead needing an MOT 3 months later when it had its 3rd birthday I actually had 12 months. My Galaxy MOT is due in September - as I hate my Ford dealer I'm going to have its final 3rd year service (incase theres any warranty stuff that needs doing) and then getting it MOT'd elsewhere. Have no Service book, and I keep ALL receipts as proof of service. Quote
