Guest sufc38 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Hi guys, Really sorry to drag up aircon AGAIN!!, but does anyone know if the low pressure valve for a sharan VR6 is located in the same place as on the Galaxy, (ie. behind the right hand indicator). Just got myself one of the diy airon regas kits and I really want to see if it will get the aircon going again, especially after spending a week or two of wining kids and wife. Cheers Mike Quote

Tired to fill with gas but not alot seemed to go in. The compressor is definatley working, drop in revs etc, but still not cold. Any Ideas what to look at next. Mike Quote
seatkid Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Not a good idea to "refill" a non working a/c with the DIY kit. If it was empty it probably was full of air, and you will now have a mix of air and R134A...... Quote

The climate control display has stopped flashing now (for the first time since I 've owned the car), and the airflow is ever so slightly cooler than before. what do you suggest I do now then? seatkid Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 It needs to be refilled correctly, i.e. emptied using a vacuum pump (checked for leaks) and refilled with the correct amount of refridgerant. Quote

I think you just need more gas, with R134a a little more pressure can make all the difference. No doubt the air con guy will say otherwise though! . Quote

It all depends on how / where the gas was lost. The best way would have been to check if any system pressure was left BEFORE topping up. If there was pressure then very likely there would not be any air, if no system pressure it's quite likely that air would be in there with moisture which would equal disaster for the aircon components.
