The warranty last for 3years from the point of vehicle registration so it sounds likely yours (for a 52 REG) is either just about to end or has already done so.

Servicing is required to be completed by either Ford or a VAT registered garage in accordance with manufacturers requirements using OEM parts.

HTH.

PS: If it's covered over 40kmiles make sure the cambelt has been changed.

I'm assuming it has to have had main dealer servicing

It has to be serviced according to schedule by a competent person - doesn't need to be ford, ours had been serviced by a non-ford garage when we bought it (22k) Ford have since honoured the warranty (inc 000's for a new autobox fitted). How ford determine the competence of the servicing person/garage I don't know.

The third year of warranty is dealer-funded/supported. The car will need to have been maintained by a "proper" dealer if you wish to claim anything in the third year of cover (up to 60,000 miles).

That certainly wasn't a problem with our gal, first two stamps were not dealer they were the maintenance division of a non-affiliated long term rental company, ford then paid for drop links, brake shoes and cabling to brakes and new instrument cluster in year two. They then paid for and fitted a new autobox in year three and a new instrument cluster in year four (unsolved problem with the fuel gauge / sender combination from year two)

Mine (well it will be in about two hours...can you tell I'm getting excited!), has done 78k miles - it has full service history, I'm pretty sure it is all Ford main dealer. It will be three years old in Jan 06, so I'm guessing it would be worth having the warranty for at six months. Do I need to tell Ford I now own the car?

I think the warranty is limited to 60k miles or 3 years whichever is the sooner :D

:D NikpV is correct - the car is out of its warranty period... sorry to say! :D

:D So in a nutshell - fords consider their cars are only a viable risk to about 60K

Oh well, never mind...I was starting to guess it was going to be too good to be true :)

Rather disappointingly, despite paying
