dfh101 Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Had a coolant warning come up today and the gauge started going from cold to very hot after I went round a big roundabout, checked the coolant and it was just above the min level?(Will Top Up To Full Tommorow), switched the car off and on again and after a few minutes noticed that the passenger side rear electric window would not work. Checked all the fuses at the drivers footwell no problems there, removed the switch and checked that it worked the front windows ok when connected. Oh and the drivers side rear window has not worked for the last 6 months, again I checked the switch and its fine. Its a 2001 facelifted sharan Carat, has anyone experienced this problem before or know of any hidden fuses that i should look for. Best Wishes DFH4NP Quote
Guest MATT Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 sometimes there are fuses/relays under the bonnet, but ime a bit lost with this one. 6 months ago, one rear window packed in, then the other day the other did?51 reg as well - thats seems too new to have wires breaking in the door looms, or the window units packing in? Rallim Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 My 2001 sharan (75k miles) has had the offside rear door window stop working. This was down to a broken cable in the door loom (just where it entered into the door metal work), so a broken loom is not improbable. Its worth a check! :) Gordon Quote
dfh101 Posted July 18, 2005 Author Report Posted July 18, 2005 Had to get the wife to take it to the dealers today, both doors had broken wires which have now been repaired, They have recomended changing the wiring looms in the door if it happens again. Cost Quote
Rallim Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Glad its resolved shame about the cost though. As Matt pointed out broken wires in the door of a car that isn't 5 years old isn't what you would expect. Well I wasn't impessed when it went wrong on mine even though I did repair it myself... :) Gordon. Quote
