seatkid Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 aahh....tunes make you breathe more easily...... Quote
Guest Subira Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I bought the Red i Tuning box from Ebay, thought I'd be wasting my money, but all the feedback was very good, so though its worth a punt. I was amazed, easy to install, then a noticable amount of power increase and most importantly on a Diesel (cos' you don't buy them for any other reason) much better mpg. I don't ever see it below 42-43 mpg and typically around the 48-50 mpg on a motorway run. Whatever its doing its doing well. Cheaper than Chips ! Quote
buford_t_justice Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Did you calculate this MPG yourself or use the computer display?? Reason why I ask is I have one of those tuning boxes and although the increase in low down torque is great the increase in actual MPG for me is non-existent. (and I don't drive the car any harder) The trip computer reported on average an extra 10MPG but this was because of the tricks the tuning box was playing on the ECU. Quote
Phil Neal Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 i'll be doing it the old fashoned way at the next fill up... Quote

Davetheref Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 You'll find a lot of threads from the past on here about the tuning chips, negative and positive. I must admit that I have been using one of the Red i chips from Ebay for about a year now and the only thing to remember is to take it off when going for a service. Quote

I do my own servicing, oil changes, air +oil filter changes every 5000 miles, major services and cambelt done by a friend as a foreigner... don't have to remove it :D Quote
