Hi Guys,

It appears that both the cooling fans on the radiator have stopped working.

The Temp has neen rising with the air con on, but stays moor constant with it off. and the air con is not as cold.

Last time this happened, had the climate control check and one of the wires had come off one of the fans. reconnected it all was fine.

Am taking it to an auto electrician tomorrow to see if they can tell me for definate.

If it is the fans, any idea how much I should expect to pay.

Cheers

Mark

Had this problem a few years back. Remove the back plate of the fan and you should see two copper coils, on mine both were broke at one end. A few dabs of solder had them up and running again. Haven't had a problem since.

My cooling fans are not running too.

But... the fans run when wired directly

And... the relay checks out ok when off line

However... the air con does not cool, which I understand is a fact because the cooling fans are not running.

Lots of related fuses, and they all look ok (air con has gas (37psi) , compressor replaced 13 months ago).

Diagnostics tell me...

So where is the coolant fan controller ? And how do I test it.

As always, lots of good info on the site for fans that keep running, or how to fix broken fans, but I'm stuck on this one.

Have got a similar problem my fan doesn't cut in automatically but will run when i turn the AC on. The AC doesn't work either so I have put it down to a faulty temp switch somewhere with having the two faults.

Could someone please tell me which sensor I need to check.

Me too!

fans work but not when air con switched on

Hi there,

I had the problem of the fans not coming on with climate contraol on Auto. With the fans wired directly the fans come on. This therefore ruled out the fans being a problem.

I found the problem to be a radiator fan resistor pack (when good these are light, limy green in colour but when worn turn black). They are located directly under the battery and can be seen from the side. Having replaced this the fans strated to work as expected. I suggest that this is where you look.
