Guest stawarz Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Have a Volvo 850R before our Gal'. Apart from the recent air-con and drop link failure has been an excellent car. We looked at the current shape V70 at the same time as the Gal'. OK the Gal' didn't have the class of the V70 but the V70 drove alot worse than the 850 and it would have mean't having one child peering out of the boot again (oh yes, another reason, wider boot in the V70 but not as deep as the 850). So I don't think you'd go too far wrong with a Gal/Sharan/Alhambra, all cars have quirks and issues (just look at this site). Only wish my wife would stop sighing everytime she sees a Previa..... Guest MATT Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Lets face it if the Galaxy was anything like reliable it wouldn't come at or near bottom of every reliability pole I've seen. ...that's strange, because most polls ive seen, say near the top. even whatcar gave it 4 out of 5 stars for Quality & reliability... Andrew T Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Well, 72nd out of 100 for Reliabilty (but only 59th overall) in the 2002 Auto Express / Driver Power survey, Last in the Top Gear JD Power survey (2000 I think). I am not familiar with What Car, is it a Survey or the magazines impression during road test ? Quote
Guest stawarz Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Don't forget with many of these surveys, such as JD Power, that rely on people volunteering to respond the responses will either be very negative (people venting) or extremely positive. They don't tend to represent middling opinions too well (have had to do polls in a past incarnation).... Quote
Guest MATT Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 in my honest opinion, i think you have to decide for yourself, yes - there will always be a bad apple, but i am very happy with mine, and is serving me well. MATT Quote

shefki Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Yes I do need 7 seats thats why I didn't post this on a site about minis! price up to 11k, being a mechanic by trade I think I might be able to change a bulb if required so that dosnt really bother me .Some other views from people who have had Galaxy for more than a short while would be good thanks :( For 11k you could have my 53 plate with 74k on the clock, full service history.
