Guest stormchaser Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Just though I'de share my experience with a rough running V6 Gal with you. I recently purchased a 95 Gal with 98k and a full service history. However it was running a little rough, was hesitant and occasionaly I could hear the pop of a bit of a misfire. After consulting this group I changed the plugs and HT leads. 3 of the HT leads were split where the lead goes into the rubber of the plug cover. The result was a much much smoother car, no misfires but it was still a little hesitant at times. After poking around under the bonnet I noticed a small oil patch behind the left rear of the inlet manifold, just under the MAF sensor/Throttle body. This turned out to be from a split breather pipe that runs from the rocker cover to the air intake just before the throttle body. When I replaced the split pipe the car run better and dosn't hesitate at light throttle positions any more. If this pipe is split (there have been post about this pipe before) it allows intake air to bypass the MAF sensor and air cleaner, so the MAF sensor will be giving a false/incorrect reading and I believe it is this that was causing the hesitation. The pipe isn't cheap at Quote
