Bigjeeze Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 I am just about to do both cam belts on my 97 AHU and my 2001 AUY engines. Apart from tensioners and belts are there any other parts required? eg gaskets etc Many thanks Gary :) Quote
Masked Marauder Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 Other them the special tools to lock the camshaft etc. And a pair of 90 degree circlip pliers do turning the tensioners then no. For the price of a couple of quid you may want to renew the four bolts that hold the pullies to the crank sprocket though. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted July 4, 2005 Author Report Posted July 4, 2005 Many thanks I'll do that. I have the special tool kit and the pliers. Cheers Gary  Quote
buford_t_justice Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Have you completed the cambelt change on your TDi yet? If so, how difficult was it and how long did it take? Thanks. Quote

Bigjeeze Posted July 21, 2005 Author Report Posted July 21, 2005 Hijacker apologies for the delayed response - The answer is no - I bottled out - At the moment I am painting the outside of the house, and i just haven't had the time so I sent the 97 TDi into my local BT Garage (I work for BT and they do jobs I don't want to!). They had it for half a day and it came back fine. I bought my own parts from GSF - they alos replaced the Power Steer belt and charged me Quote
