Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (g62)

My car is running a bit pants at the mo !!! It has an intermittent fault on the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62) Open or Short to Plus

P1256 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

It has a bit of a flat spot at lo revs which it pulls through but doesnt really want to rev above 3000 rpm but will if you push it........does any one think this fault is fooling the management system into thinking the engine is running cold??????

Thought it might be the MAF but disconnected it and the car was flat as a fart so not that then !!!! :(

ok then folks...anyone care to post a nice little piccy of the engine coolant temp sensor so i can change it............had a look but there are so many wires and sensors......aye i remember when i had a mk2 escort...there was probably three wire on the whole engine...ahhh the good old days
