Guest bosbax Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 About 3 weeks ago the a/c gave up,managed to take it to my local Ford dealer yesterday, but not before i ran a few checks myself. The aircon panel shows no flashing lights or icons and appears to go through the correct switching procedure when you select auto, the fuses and relay are ok and it is gassed up correctly but ,a visuul check on the compressor would indicate that it does engage when required (no drop in rpm). The Ford garage ran a diagnostic but found no fault codes to indicate a problem.Any help would be appreciated as it's becoming damned hot ! MatTdi Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 That sounds excatly like the problem I had.... It was traced down to the field coil going open circuit and not providing the magnetism required to engage the clutch on the compressor. Are the fans running on the radiator when the AC is switched on??If you have access to a multimeter then you can measure the coil and should see a low reading of less than 3ohms for the field coil. Hope this helps a bit M@ Quote
