Guest andypenn Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Hi allbeen trying to get parts for my 2001 115bhp diesel galaxy but am told by various autofactors GSF included that my engine number (1K94978) is not a valid VW engine, is this because it is in a ford?, if so should any filters (oil fuel air pollen) from a 2001 sharan fit or do I have to go to ford. No, you don't To identify your engine you need to look for the first 3 letters of the engine code on the timing belt cover (it may preceed the engine number on the log book too) It should be something like ANU or ANY or ASZ Quote
Masked Marauder Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 It is also on the second box down on the left on the VIN plate on the passenger front door pillar Quote
