Ketchup Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Firstly I'm not sure if this posting is in the right place so forgive me if it isnt Secondly , I bought a used rollup-pullout thing parcel shelf whatever the correct term is and went into Ford and bought the brackets to mount the thing. The trouble is I have only a general idea where to mount the brackets. The Haynes manual isnt very helpful. Has anyone pics of their (mine is a 98 Gal) with these brackets in place so I can place mine in the right spot or point me to a web site with pics or diagrams????? HELP!!!! Quote

craigm Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 Hi, I have a 2002 Galaxy which didn't have tonneau cover specced from new. It seems that I would need to get a cover - and fit the holding brackets into the side facia. Could I get the parts from either Ford or a breaker to fit myself? It looks like I will need to cut into the side to fix in the tonneau main retainer bracket.... Or does anyone do an after market tonneaue cover which does not require too much upholstery modification? TIA Craig Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 Haven't found one, nor can I find a luggage net or a split dog guard that allows 6 seats plus segregated pet area :-((Earlier postings asking for help/info have drawn a blank too.... Quote
Guest JIMSTDI Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 there are 3 for sale on ebay Quote
Guest sufc38 Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Hi, I've recently bought a 98 Sharan and it had no luggage cover or brackets fitted. I've bought all the parts I need and the cover but I'm struggling to figure out exactly where the brackets got on the trim panels. Please can someone help me with photos of the location of these brackets. Thanks Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Take off the rear quarter panels and you should be able to see where they go as there are cut out lines on the other side of the panels cut the inner card section away and leave plenty of the outer fabric cover, that way you can fold it through the holes and hold it tightly in place when you fit the outer mountings Quote
Guest sufc38 Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Hi, Thanks very much, do you know if the same is true for the panels where the brackets that the tonneau clips into when open (by the tailgate). Really appreciate your help. Thanks again Mike Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Yes, all the holes are pre marked, including the speakers and curtesey lights if you dont already have these fitted? Quote
Guest sufc38 Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Excellent, Thanks very much, I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Mike Quote
Guest Mr.C Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 BE CAREFUL YOU GET THE CORRECT RETAINER FOR THE REAR NEARSIDE (THE BIT YOU HOOK THE COVER ONTO AT THE BACK)THE RETAINER IS DIFFERENT FOR MODELS WITH AIR CON AS I FOUND OUT TO MY COST. FORD SUPPLIED BRACKETS AND DIDN'T MENTION THIS POINT, SO ONCE FITTED THE NEARSIDE RETAINER WAS AT A FUNNY ANGLE. ON GOING BACK AND CHANGING FOR THE AIR CON VERSION IT DOESN'T FULLY COVER THE HOLE.WHILE I'M ON DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THERE IS A TRIM REPAIR FOR THE VINYL PANELS. THE HOLE SHOWING IS ONLY ABOUT 1/2" IN DIAMETER. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 You can get trim panels repaired - try yellow pages or google for "smart" repairers (a bit like Chips Away, but for interiors).HTH Ivor Quote
faded-fish Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Yes, all the holes are pre marked, including the speakers and curtesey lights if you dont already have these fitted? You say speaker holes - does this mean I can make my 8 speaker stereo into a 10? If so, are the wires there and what size speakers fit? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Yes you can upgrade to ten speakers :D I got hold of a set of OE speakers from a breakers to fit in mine, IIRC they are curved to follow the contour of the panel so I wouldnt be to sure if a standard flat speaker would fit or look ok? if the cables are not there piggy back them off the rear door speakers, I have and they sound ok :D I can fade out the fronts and leave the rears running when we pipe the DVD through the radio, keeping all the rear passengers happy :D it's suprising how quite five screaming brownies year old can be while they watch the Lizzie Mcguire movie for the nineth time :D Quote
