wazza Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 I have read a few posts which say they have global window closing. Is this only on earlier models (I have a 2.3 ghia on 54 plate) or is it a modification. Any Help Quote
Guest mick Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Use the key in the lock, and hold in the locking position for about 3 - 4 seconds. The windows (including the rear quarter lights) should start to close. Have always done this from the drivers door, so don' t know if it also works from the tailgate.Global opening is achieved by holding the key in th unlock position again for a few seconds. Quote
wazza Posted June 28, 2005 Author Report Posted June 28, 2005 Thanks for the Quick response, I will try this when I get Home from work Quote
faded-fish Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 On the Mk 1 this works from all key operated doors (if they are connected - my passenger door lock has disconnected - any advice on how to fix?) Also, I have noticed that my sunroof will close with the global closure but it will not open with global opening - is this normal? Quote
gregers Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 sounds exacltly like mine, sunroof will close with the key but wont open and it doesnt shut or open any of the windows, after having serious probs with my sunroof(stripped all the worms inside)managed to aquire another one from another forum member(steve69car)replaced sunroof got it to work GUESS WOT STILL THE SAME  after spending near on 16hrs taking all the headlining out and replaceing I DONT CARE IF IVE GOT GLOBAL CLOSING OR NOT the sunroof works, the windows work thats all that matters ;) regards gregers Quote
Guest mick Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Must admit, can't remember if global opening operates the rear q-lights or not. I suppose the global closing needs to operate all glass / sunroof for security, whereas opening can just concentrate on the four main windows. Less current drawn from the battery. Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Mick is right in what he says all class opening will close by key locking posisioon but only the main windows should open in the open posision to save on battery, also this feature is only designed for pre-ventilation of the vehicle as these green houses on wheels do get very warm when sitting in the sun. Guest dbpreston Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Hi, My '99 GhiaX is just the same as this and won't open the sunroof this way, but before that I had a '96 Sharan GL with Global Closing option where all the windows, sunroof and rear quarters would open with the door key, and also with the remote. So I think that at least the various makes will all be slightly different. David Quote
