Rick.lord Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 Galaxy 1.9 Tdi 130About 6 months ago there was a slight knocking noise coming from the front suspension. I took the car to the local dealer who replaced a link rod (not sure which side). All has been fine until just recently when the knocking noise has come back (again not sure which side) so I suspect the other link rod may be faulty. Can someone tell me what the link rod is/does, how easy is it to replace, how much do these cost and would you expect them to last longer than 20,000 miles Quote
Guest spanner137 Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 The link arm joins the anti roll bar to the suspension leg, they are approx Quote
Guest mick Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 I've read in other posts that these link rods are pretty easy to change. OK, at the moment my Gal is under warranty, and so the Fraud garage can replace the rattling link rods (again), but as these rods seem to wear out at such a rate I guess I'll get used to changing them myself. Is there a set torque setting for these, or are they just tightened tight / f. tight?? I have been informed that if link rods were originally replaced under warranty, the rods warranty will run out at the same time as the vehicle warranty. And to quote my local garage, 'even if that means only one day's warranty on the new part'. Quote
