Guest carliterature Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Hi all, not posted for a while as our Galaxy's been working fine. However, two questions please (and, yes, I have searched but couldn't find the same problem): 1) The dashboard ABS light comes on and off intermittently. There appears to be no pattern as to when it does come on or not and the braking appears to be working fine. Spoke to our usual (trusted) garage where it recently had a heat shield welded back on and new front discs/pads. The suggestion is that the sensor may be a little dodgy and that I should take it for a drive a brake hard to ensure I feel the ABS judder. Not sure this would work as I remain convinced it's been caused by their recent work. Any ideas? 2) Last week, I managed to partially pull away the rubber trim at the bottom of the offside rear door window. I pulled it from the edge under the Ghia badge (where it sits over the triangular plastic trim) and it bent at a right angle. I've tried to flatten it down with no joy. I even used No More Nails and clamped it over night but it popped straight out again. There appears to be a clip missing to hold it in place. Since I did this, I noticed the corresponding piece on the nearside has some rust bubbling under the rubber. What sort of cost are these parts to replace and does anyone know how simple a job it is to replace them? Cheers Keith/carliterature Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Check the plastic clips which supports the front sensor cables around the plug.If you have a broken one the cable starts to flap about causing the conductors to fray due to work hardening.Cable damage is not always apparent, this happened to me and it was only when the insulation started to crack that I spotted it. Worth a look 'cause it's an easy check. Quote
