We have an S reg Galaxy and it has developed an annoying intermittent problem. Whilst the doors are open the central locking will kick in and the doors will lock. You are then able to shut the door but they then remain locked. Not a major problem you may think, but when you are trying to load three children in and you have to keep unlocking the car it certainly is. Local Ford dealer check at last service but found no fault :-(

Anyone got a suggestion as to the cause of this issue?

Yes, it is only when we use the remote fob to open the doors (3 kids in tow). What are the door pin switches ? are they easy (cheap :) ) to replace ?

If you look at the lower rear corner of the doors you should see a round rubber lump, these are the door swithches which tell the car if the door is open or closed. the system will auto relock after 30 secs if a door is not opened so if a switch is duff then thats why it relocks as it cannot see the door open.

Does it only happen with the rear doors and do you have the door open idicator on the dash and does it work??

Thanks for the advise. Its my wifes car and can't remember if there's a display on the dashboard for open doors - its the lowest spec so I suspect not.

This definatley sounds like the probable cause. I guess now need to fault find a bit more to determine which of the rear doors is causing the issue. Then need to see if I can get one.
