Guest JasonGalaxy Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 A couple of days ago my Gal started to make a grinding noise when turning the wheel, I called into my local garage (non Ford) who topped up the power steering fuild which solved this. He did say I should get the car checked as it shouldn't lose fluid. I rang my local dealer who insisted I went down so I did today - told them the problem and they booked me in in 2 weeks time. My Gal is a July 02 so I have 1 month of warranty remaining (phew!) - driving home tonight the noise came back for a few min's the the power steering completely went (fought it all the way home with lots of sweat even with the air-con on, which touch wood is still working)). In view of this I was considering extending the warranty which I thought maybe a good investment after reading the posts on here, I contacted Ford who tell me that they don't do and extended warranty ?? is this true. They suggested I go back to my local dealer who can sell me a warranty, the same as what they give when they sell second hand cars over 3 years - anybody know if these are any good ? as good as the Ford warranty etc ? This is the first major problem I've had with the Galaxy, which only after 3 years is a bit worrying (its only done 23,000 miles). Any suggestions whether I should or shouldn't - I'm even considering gettin rid ! Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Extend your warranty! All modern non-japanese cars are unreliable anyway. What can you buy which is better? (a commercial vehicle based MPV will still have dodgy electrics et al, even though the engine and drivetrain will be reliable). Quote
tom8848 Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 I enquired about a extended warranty to my local Ford garage which is Hartwell ford. They have there own (Hartwell) extended warranty and have been offered 2 years at Quote
