Mauser Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Hi guys,Would anyone recommend buying these items from ebay ?.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVWGot bad steering wheel vibration when braking for 70 down to about 50.Price seems cheap compared to just buying pads ?.Cheers Simon Quote
HJT Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 To be honest, I wouldn't trust any safety essential parts from anywhere other than a reputable dealer. These could be cheap foreign copies. Save a few quid now and regret it for the rest of your life if you kill someone because the brakes didn't perform properly. Howard Quote
Mauser Posted June 21, 2005 Author Report Posted June 21, 2005 Thanks for the advice Howard, I have asked him for the make of the disks, Lockheed would be OK for the pads would they not ?.Cheers Simon Quote
seatkid Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 There's no guarantee when you buy at a car boot sale.........The box in the picture is a Delphi (lockheed) box, but this is Ebay we're talking about Why not try your local Delphi distributor? :) they may surprise you.... Brakes and tyres - probably the most important safety kit on your car..... Quote

Mauser Posted June 21, 2005 Author Report Posted June 21, 2005 Reply from guy selling the pads + disk on ebay. The discs are made by IMAP (Industrial Mechanical Automotive Parts) & the pads are Dephi Lockheed .. Any further thoughts :).Cheers Simon Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I wouldn't touch the disks if I were you, they are made by Ya-Chang in China, Shalaxys can warp even the best quality discs, so tread carefully! I use Brembo because they are metallurgically superior to OE discs, and they have a rather good reputation in performance braking components. No trouble to report (unsurprisingly), Quote
Mauser Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 Thanks for the feed back, will steer well clear :).Cheers Simon Quote
Masked Marauder Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 The disks on my Alhambra that weighs 1.6 tonnes are the same size as those on my Astra GTE that weighs a little under 0.5 tonnes. Little wonder they warp and wear so quickly. Quote
