Guest Subira Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Sorry to be a pain, but I'm new to the forum and have tried the search function to find the answer, but to no avail. I have a '01 TDI Sharan with a long on painful Air Con history. Guess what its packed up again. The AC switch/light doesn't come on anymore, the fuses seem intact, its not cooling. One minute it workd the next it was dead. I had a new condenser and drier fitted within the last 12 months that should be under parts warranty. I'm about to get it back to my local VW dealer, but wanted an idea of the problem as they'll fleece me if it isn't anything to do with the parts that they replaced. The 're-circulation' switch/light is also dead Anyone with any ideas ? Thanks Quote
gazza007 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 This isn't the AC but the panel itself. This has happened to me 3 times.I presume it's a manual system? You will also notice that you won't have any backlights & the airflow paddles or heat settings won't change when you move the dials. The only thing that works is the fan speed.See my post from last year hope it helps. Guest Subira Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Yes it is a manual system and the lights are out on the panel. Will take a look and see if I can figure it out. Thanks Quote

Guest Subira Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Top Tip !! Air Con now working - just pulled the big plug off with the little purple lever, sprayed with contact cleaner, replaced and its fine :) In fact it actually seems to get colder than before. Quote
gazza007 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Wonderful, Not sure what is going on but I think pulling the plug does some kind of reset.Glad to be of help Quote
