Hi all, I have a rather loud squealing/chirping noise coming from the engine bay.

It only happens when the engine is under load from around 1700 RPM, it appears to vanish at about 2500 RPM. It cannot be detected when the car is stationary.

I am also losing water at quite a rate, about 1 Litre per 100 miles. I suspect the head gasket, but there appears to be no undue pressurisation, in fact the pressure appears to recede fairly quickly once stopped which would suggest a leak somewhere. There is no evidence of water under the car or anywhere else.

My aircon doesn't work anymore, in fact I don't think the clutch is even engaging, there is a click from the control unit on the back of the front panel but no clack from the clutch. The garage refilled the system but said that the drivebelt was slipping and smoking due to compreesor seizure. A chap I know who remanufactures compressors said that the nosecone bearing had prolly seized, and that it could be replaced without removing the compressor, anyone have any experience with this?
