Mussey1 Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 Hi, maybe someone can help. I may be going to look at a 1.8 LX. I think the car was possibly registered in 2000, but I think it is one of the older '98 models (chrome on boot + grille) that had sitting about. The problem is it belonged to an elderly gentleman who took ill just after he bought it and it has been sitting for approx 4-5 yrs. I have been told that the mileage is low, however how what do you pay for a car like that?? No tax..MOT...probably needs belts, full service, moss cleaned off, tyres etc.etc. Is is worth looking at?? With a bit of TLC it could be a great car! Hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks. MM. Quote
Guest j_mchattie Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 After sitting for 4/5 years, id expect to buy new tyres.New aux beltNew OilNew CoolentNew Brake FluidNew Timing BeltNew Wheel bearingsNew Leads and PlugsNew FiltersNew ExhaustNew Brake Discs - perhapsNew Wishbones - perhapsNew Battery Along with all the other things that might have seized up. A good buy at the right price - the engine has had 5 years rest, but very expensive if your not fixing it up DIY style. Cam belt and wheel bearings are the expensive ones, my fiesta stood for a year and needed new wheel bearings. The cam belt is recommended change every 5 years. How much is it advertised for? Quote
Mussey1 Posted June 20, 2005 Author Report Posted June 20, 2005 Hi, The car is not actually advertised. I spotted it when I called at the owners house on other business about 8 months ago. The owner since died and the car is still there so I spoke to a family member and asked if it was for sale? I will have to make them an offer but I dont know how much. MM. Quote
