Guest Ford Galaxy Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 I am getting a loud'ish noise coming from the engine when i start up sometimes that sounds like a belt squeeling, although it does stop after a few miles. I have read on these forums that there is no cam belt and just a chain so it can't be that. Would it be something like the fan belt? any ideas what it could be and how to cure this. Also as a new Galaxy owner that has just bought my first, could you tell me if theres anything i should be looking to do/check for peace of mind, I have a 1997 GLX Auto with 88,000 miles. I'm going to be looking to replace the clock, heater control and automatic gear lights this weekend after reading the 'how to' on this site. Although i'm still a little unsure what i will expect when i do the auto light as it seems more complicated. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 Yor timing belt (if you had one) would not slip anyway, or serious damage would occur. What you most likely hear is the auxililary drive belt slipping. They are easy to change on a 1 to 10 scale, even for the most basic DIYer. Quote
