Have done a search but haven't found the same symptoms - basically had the usual problem with the epc / bulb warning lights - found the brake lights weren't working. From the useful info on this forum, got a new brake switch from the local main (VW) dealer but when fitted the brake lights were on permanently, & didn't respond to the plunger being depressed. I took it back & they told me that I "must have broken it", but eventually allowed me to swap for another. Tried that one & same problem. Didn't even try to fit it this time, just plugged in & tried the plunger, but no joy. It does look different to the old one (purple rather than black), but they've told me that it's the new design because of the fault with the old one. Does it have to be fitted and twisted into the bayonet slot before it works for some reason? Have got the old one working again, but not sure how long it will last.

It's a 2000 facelift Sharan by the way.

Any help much appreciated!

IIRC you have to set the brake light switch , just don't ask me how as I can't remember. I think you have to push the plunger right back in then pull it out to the desired length. I hink it was covered on the seatcupra.net site.

Sorry I can be off more help

They come with the plunger all the way out, put pull it to check.

There is an activation device built in that does something when it is turned in the keyhole. It is a tab under the pointed part of the bayonet fitting.
