Hi, Following on from my warm air con problem. I now find that my climate control display flashes for 15 seconds...

Any ideas or past experiences of this problem ? Before I'm forced to take it to a main dealer !

Cheers

This has happened to us before

Check fuses at very top of fuse board above drivers pedals

That was our problem b4

Also if you have had work done on the Aircon system it can take a while for it to settle

Also check the small vents each side of the display...there is a tiny fan in there that draws air across a sensor (thermistor) to gauge the air temp in the front cabin.

The fan rotates real slow...only needs small amount of debris to stop it...

...or it could be, like on mine, that you have a leak in the aircon system and all the gas has gone, which also triggers the warning "flashing". Are you getting cold air from the vents?

I've just had the system re charged (no gas). Is it possible the 'flashing' was indicating low gas levels ? If so, can you reset the 'flashing' ?

But, still no cold air.....

When my system was recharged, the garage then found that the compressor had gone because it had been running with no lubricant. But the display stopped flashing although the system was charged and the compressor wasn't working (there was a near 2 week delay to get a compressor and fit it).

So, whoever charged your system should have checked that the compressor was working. Sounds like a job for an air-con specialist unless you want to try to electrical fault-find first.

When the aircon was recharged the compressor/system was working okay. But the garage suggested the climate control display fault should be delt with by a main dealer.

I guess it's an electrical fault some where, rather than mechanical hardware type.

I think I'll bite the bullet and book it into a main dealer.

Thanks for all you helpful suggestions.

I had exactly the same problem except that it was a Ford dealer that recharged the system but did not bother to look for a leak. The compressor failed because of the lack of lubricant - the panel flashes to tell you there is a problem. The fix costs mega bucks.

...certainly does. Mine was fixed under warranty and I didn't get a copy of the bill, but I did manage to sneak a glance at the paperwork when I collected it. Prices were something like
