GSMGuy Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 On my 2002 Zetec (7 seater) If I slide the 3 middle seats forward on their runners, and the rear two right back, I can then fold the backrests of the rear 2 seats down, and tip them forward, to give more luggage space... My question is - should they lock into the upright position, once folded forwards? As mine don't, and if there is nothing in the back, and I accelerate sharpish, they tip back over and lock themseles back into their mounts... On my Picasso, once I had folded the 3 rear seats forward, they locked into place, and there was a little lever to pull in order to release them... Are they all like this?? Mike Quote
Phil Neal Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I take the headrests of the back row, push the middle row right forward, fold the rears, then push the middle row back and throw the rear headrests in the garage, don't generally go down then... Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 erm, i don't think they lock into place :( , but i have found that If I slide the 3 middle seats forward on their runners, and the rear two forward a bit, I can then fold the backrests of the rear 2 seats down, and tip them forward, then i slide the middle seats back as far as they will go, effectively 'jamming' the two rear seats, and they don't fall down. MATT  Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Hey MikeU got that troublesome autobox sorted ????!!!!!???? Paul :( Quote
GSMGuy Posted June 10, 2005 Author Report Posted June 10, 2005 Paul, if you remember, it went in for a full recon, but not been right since - been back in 3 times, for new valve chest, new seals, and an ECU swap on Fri gone, stilll same, so h has bought in another complete box plus Torque converter, and is rebuilding it totally as we speak - car going in on monday for full box swap - so basically everything... Box, ECU, Loom, Diff etc willl have been changed... TBH, they have been really good, looks like my orig box was just beyond repair - at least they have bent over backwards to put it right, been really apologetic, and every time it has been back, I have been loaned the MD's own personal car... So can't complain, and would hapilly recommend them... Mike Quote
Rallim Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 At the weekend when my wife is not child minding I normally fold the rear 2 seats forward to fit the taneou cover. (Makes it easier to leave things in it when shopping etc.) But I do have to remove the headrests from the rear seats and make sure the middle row seats are fully forward on their runners. The cover only just fits, I am unsure if it is really meant to fit with the rear seats in place, but its so much easier than removing them! :( Gordon. Quote
GSMGuy Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 Tonneau cover is the next addition to mine.. Oh, nd Paul, got the gal back yesterday, the difference is unbelievable, box is silky smooth, changes, even on full throttle are smoth and barely peceptible.. But, being a perfectionist, the guy at the garage is not totally happy with the 2nd to 3rd change... It's better than it ever has been - as is the whole box btw.. So, he wants it back for an afternoon in a couple of weeks to swap the valve chest over... again... At least they are thourough - I reckon they have certainly made a loss on my job, especially in the labour area! But I am REALLY pleased with the way it drives now :) And, as a gesture of goodwill for all the hassle, they drained, flushed and regassed my A/C for me FOC, it was about 10% down through natural leakage, cold as hell now :( Mike Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Hey Mike. sounds like a result mate.......but I cant help thinking you have too much torque for your autobox with you added "brake gee-gees".......as we are aware that VW dont put an auto box on the Shalaxy 130 and 150 bhp.....do you think maybe that could be the reason why ????So silky smooth gearchange, cold air coming from the aircon, aux heater working !!! ha...next you will be telling us you have a back wiper that actualy touches the window and doesnt "bleed" its fluids in your passenger footwell  Enjoy while it lasts !!!! Guest MATT Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 ok, so while everything is working, dont touch anything, seal it in a air tight box, and pray to the galaxy gods that it stays that way. MATT Quote
GSMGuy Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 Tbh, the guys who did the box are aware of the chip, and they have emailed Jatco, who tell them the box is designed to cope with 220bhp and upto 400nm torque... Don't forget the same box, more or less is used on the V6 Gal.. the Rover 75 petrol and diesel, some range rovers and Disco's and quite a few large capacity american cars too... But you were reading my mind in thinking about the torque, because apparently it's the diesel engined cars that cause more probs... Kepping the chip though, 'cause it flies!! Mike Quote
