Guest Rick Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Does anyone know what the correct torque settings are for the wheel nuts for alloy wheels & the sump plug on my 03 Galaxy. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Which Galaxy? Different engines, different torque settings for the sump bolt. Wheels: 170Nm/125lb/ft Sump drain on all VW engines: 30Nm/22lb/ft on cleaned threads and new seal. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 So's mine. Torque settings same as above. Which oil do you intend to use?....this is a real issue. Quote
Guest Rick Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Not sure which oil to use. The car is brand new so I have got a few miles to cover before I need to change the oil. For my previous cars (non diesel) I have used Castrol or Mobil oils, so I guess that I will see what they offer. I believe that a fully synthetic for modern diesels is probably the one to go for.Do you have any other advice? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Look at this thread for one....there are others. It is a sick joke. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/Forum/index.p...=482&hl=castrol The only dealers that seem to know what to use are VW. Seat and Ford are challenged. Quote
Guest lnparkin Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 Does it need to use the special longlife castol oil, as our passat tdi does? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Special oil is required for the VW "PD" engines - 115 and 130 PS (bhp) versions in the Galaxy. Earlier 90 and 110 versions can use oil of a lesser spec. Quote
