Missing Gears

I had a problem last week when some of the more frequently used gears went missing in the wife's 97 TDI. After perusing the site I found various postings on the methods used by members to get round the problem. But after remembering that the Missus drives it and she wouldn't be able to re fit the connector I decided to do the job properly.
