danyoda1 Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 hi ppl, i am looking at getting myself a v6 galaxy at the end of the year probably about a 2000ish plate manual 7 seater what are the main problems (apart from coil pack, timing chain, and leaks!) to look out for? also what toys/specs would you guys recommend/avoid i know this posts a little early but it will give me time to prepare and get myself the right car when the money turns up!!! also - random question coming up - how much room is there behind the two rear panels (the ones where cd changer are sometimes mounted)? cheers in advance dan Quote
GSMGuy Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 Hi and welcome to our Forum! Hmmmm, tips and toys for a V6??? Tip; buy a fuel tanker to follow you... Toy; One of those wrist excercisers - for all that fuel pumping you will be doing!! Mike Quote
johnb80 Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 also - random question coming up - how much room is there behind the two rear panels (the ones where cd changer are sometimes mounted)? About this much:|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| But then again if you have a 42" Plasma Monitor about this much:|---------------------------| The depth varies a lot, there's quite a bit of framework inside and in the R.H. side the jack and changer if fitted. On mine I have managed to store a set of very heavy duty jumpl leads, a large first aid kit, Medical Oxygen Cylinder and various other bits and pieces. What are you wanting to hide? Regards - JB Quote
danyoda1 Posted June 4, 2005 Author Report Posted June 4, 2005 what am i wanting to hide? how about on one side 4 x 12" subs and on the other 3 amps, 1 eq and a computer? i am big into I.C.E.! you should see my existing car! as for toys - gps and the multimedia pack are not wanted 'cos i will be fitting a full pc system in there. climate control is a must. cruise control would be nice for long journeys at night but probably not that practical for the rest of the time in the uk.definately want in-car vag-com. would like leather and tints but not too fussed if i don't get them. what do you guys reckon? johnb80 Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 The computer should be easy, loads of room under the front seats, mine has my Clarion SatNav unit there but if you took a compact type motherboard with everything on board it should go in there nicely with a custom made small case. The screen of my SatNav is in the centre storage bin on top of the dash which folds down nicely out of sight. I don't think you'd have any problems with the amps / woofers in back, you will of course lose a bit of space. What about power supply lead lengths? Galaxy is a faily long car and the battery is as far forwards as it could be. Regards - John Quote
danyoda1 Posted June 4, 2005 Author Report Posted June 4, 2005 i was gonna uprate the alternator to 300amp approx and have two runs of 1/0 gauge down the car to a custom battery box housing 3?(not decided exact amount yet - will depend upon budget and space!) batteries - these will all power hopefully a 20 faraf pg cap which will also be used for the distribution. steve67car Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 B) i've remove the remote heater on the passanger side rear compartment so you could go that route :D cause then the o gauge cable can run where the water pipes were  then hide the amps processor and other misc componants in theretwo 15 three 10/12 two sets of 6.5 componants 2 head units sat nav/pc under the seat :( B) sceens in 7 head rests :D then you're pimped also limo black tints on rear glass up to the b pillers then 70% on front windows and 18"rims and a 60 mm drop no problem :D Quote
danyoda1 Posted June 6, 2005 Author Report Posted June 6, 2005 have you got any photos of your install? and how did you wire the tv's in the headrests? have you got them wired through a multiplug for power and video signal so that the seats are still removeable? Quote

Guest MATT Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 well if your wife is like my wife, then you will get a dent in the bumper within a week :( Well the closer you get to something the more often they beep, until your about a foot of it, then the beep is continues, in other words - beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. i love them, think there great, rain sometimes confuses them though. danyoda1 Posted June 14, 2005 Author Report Posted June 14, 2005 matt, i know what they do!!!!!!!! beeeeeeepppppp indeed! anyway, what i wanted to know is - are they actually a must have feature when looking for a galaxy - and what exactly do they do in the rain???? Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 what are the parking sensors like that come on the galaxy as my wife will also have access to the car!!!!! misunderstood you, if a galaxy didn't have them, it would not put me off, its just their a nice feature, they might even get on your nerves! the rain creates a 'wall' which results in false readings.
