The Turbo on my 1998 1.9 TDi keeps cutting out. It seems to be related to driving in too high a gear for the road conditions, ie going slowly up a hill in 5th gear. The power of the turbo (when it is working) is also reduced from what it should be - anyone got any ideas ???

Could be one of several things. The MAF sensor could be on the way out. (Do a search on sensor on the forum for more on this) or could be the engine management system, in which case you will need to get it booked into the workshop to get the error codes read.

Thanks for that advice - got it booked in for a service at my local ford dealer next week - i'll give a rundown of costs etc and exactly what the problem was.

Cheers,

I have a similiar problem with my Alhambra 1.9 90BHP Tdi.

The error codes suggest a faulty signal from the Speed Sensor ( off flywheel ) however this has been replaced and it is clearly not the problem.

Once the codes are cleared down, the car goes fine for 4-months but under similair conditions , it will re-occur.

Seat think its a wiring issue and don't want to know about it.

I've heard of other problems like this from other owners.

Any ideas or feedback appreciated.

I suffer the same problem on my '98 Alhambra TDi. Do you have good power when you first start off? I do then it appears to cut out.
