i now need front pads and disks and rear pads, has anyone done there own and if so is it easy do? and best place to get the parts please. ford want 220 plus vat for the front lot and 80 for the rear pads? :(

Been done before; you will need device to rotate pistons when pads are retracted, bleed via nipples so as not to push old fluid back into ABS unit.

Also check the diameter of the discs first, as there have been 2 different sizes of discs/callipers fitted to "early" facelifted models (X and Y plates).

It is very simple to do, perhaps one of the simplest jobs on a car.

 

Check out German Swedish & French http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ for the parts.

 

Special tools wise you will need a brake hose clamp and brake wind-back tool, and perhaps an impact driver.

Parts are common check you local motor factor first

 

Need to know which size disks you need 288mm or 300mm first

16 all round. thanks for the help. any idea what diameter i need??

Best to take one of the front wheels off and measure it yourself - be careful not to crush your sills :(

You should try Fordpartsuk.com You can fill in an online order and they will get back to you with a price. They will also check from your VIN number that they are supplying the correct discs etc.

 

 

I did my x reg (Nov 2000) facelifted Galaxy 1.9 115 tdi front discs and pads a couple of months ago. If I remember correctly it was
