I have just got 18month old Galaxy with DVD's (factory fitted Visteon system) and they seem to be a complete waste of time working intermittently and very erratically. The dealer has tried 3 times to sort this and he tells me it is just a very bad system and they are all like this. Does anyone else have these problems? Seems bad to me for a

I don't have the multi-media system but cannot believe that it is so fault-prone. I would suggest that your dealer just does not have the qualified technical staff to sort the problem. You should still be under warranty (right?) so be up front with the dealer - say that you are not happy with his ability to fix the problem, is it down to lack of technical knowledge and if so, can he recommend another dealer near you who may be able to sort it, else could he recommend an in-car entertainment place where he can arrange for your car to go, then he pays and forwards the bill to Ford for warranty payment.

What problems are you having ?? I must admit that the system takes a while

to get used to and is a little slow to respond to the remote control commands

but apart from that it is superb!

The DVD remote works some of the time. When I power the screens up sometimes they turn off immediately and i cannot turn them on unless i leave it turned off for some time.

The buttons on the unit above the dvd player don't seem to work. The volume only works now and again and if i put a normal dvd in with menus i,m stuck as the remote seems to not work or is it the system. Ford say they changed the remote and one screen but i think it is the unit and control above it. i think i'll have to try another dealer.

I have also had issues with the DVD system, but this seems to have solved itself? I had minor problems with the remote working, but the screens flickered and nothing could be watched on the system for a couple of minutes during the first 15 minutes of use... The remote would not work for the first 30 seconds, but then was fine.

Finally I took the car, it's my wife's, so we need to swap for the day - took it into the garage to have a look at the DVD system and also a doorstrip which came off in a car-wash! Doorstrip all sorted, but the DVD system was checked and nothing was found to be wrong??? Dealer said it might *possibly* have something to do with the cold weather we was having at the time, but now it's warmed it hasn't done it again [TOUCH WOOD].

Just a few pointers.....

1. The Head Unit needs to be ON for the DVD System to power up.

2. The infrared remote receiver is on the screens so make sure that

you are pointing the remote at the screen and not at the dvd unit in the

console.

3. To power on the system point the remote at one of the screens and press

the power button.

4. To get the actual DVD film menu's to work you need to press the 'DVD' button

on the remote, this will then display 'DVD' in the top right corner of the screen.

This will allow you to navigate through the dvd menu's, when you have selected

your scene etc press the 'DVD' button again to remove the 'dvd' in the corner

of the screen.

5. You can add additional av kit (playstation, xbox, video camera etc etc) through

the AV inputs at the front of the console, if your system is looking for this input

you will get nothing on your screens (like trying to watch a video on your tv

without turning it on). This option is within one of the setup menu's.

Sorry if these seem a little basic but as I couldn't get my system to power up

when I got it home I decided to read the manual thoroughly and then play

around with the system for half an hour or so to learn it's little foibles!

If you haven't got an instruction manual let me know and I'll see if I can

scan them to a document for you.

Hi Marky

Sorry to be cheeky, but I never got a manual and am fed up asking Fraud for one. Would it be possible for you to email me the doc. Many thanks

Dave
