Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 If the display is blank, how do you know you have to input the code? It should say "code". If it is totally blank, then there is no power to the unit so check the fuses first, then take the radio out and check the conections to it. Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 also, if you enter the code more than ten times incorrectly, it will 'lock up', which means you have to send it to ford to be reset! you also have to wait 30 minutes between attempts. MATT Quote

Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Check you have power to both live feeds (ignition-switched and permanent live). Also check that the earth cable is still connected to earth. If all these check out OK, then the head unit itself is duff. Not sure if it has any internal fuses, but it will be time to start opening it up. Do you have a 12 volt DC supply at home? Quote
sledgeweazel Posted May 23, 2005 Author Report Posted May 23, 2005 Thanks for all the help I have tried all, multimeter battery nearly flat the thing worked fine before I changed it for a cd player, and no trying to refit it seems to be duff I think it's time for the hammer and crowbar. once again thanks for al the help. Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Check the connectors on the wiring loom - maybe one of the pins has been damaged when you fitted your other CD player; also check the pins on the back of the Ford radio itself for same possible problem. I think there may be an internal fuse in the radio that has blown - when you connect it up and then switch on the lights, does any back-panel lighting on the radio work ? (or isn't there any?) Quote
